ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

POSITION SUMMARY
Union Real Estate Company is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our accounting team. You will be responsible for supporting the financial integrity of the
company by overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and managing the accounting team,
including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Billing. This role partners closely with the
Controller and President to ensure accuracy and timely financial reporting, strong internal
controls, and developing team capabilities. This is a full-time, in-office position at our downtown
Pittsburgh location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the daily activities of the accounting department, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, using our real estate management software.
- Manage month-end close process.
- Oversee billing reconciliation with our billing department.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthend close reports and statements, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Prepare and review internal financial statements, variance analyses, and management reports.
- Prepare annual financial statements and summaries.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis to support planning initiative and property performance.
- Light Human Resource administrative duties.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Experience in real estate management is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
