Michele DeMarco

President

Michele is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. She has been with the company since 1992 and has worked in the real estate management industry since 1987. Prior to joining Union, she was an assistant property controller for Kravco Company and an accountant in the public accounting firm of Laventhol & Horwath in Philadelphia.

Jan Levinson

Chairman of the Board, Senior Vice President and Broker of Record

Jan has been with Union Real Estate since 1981. He has coordinated the growth of the Aberman family’s real estate holdings through the purchase of shopping centers, office buildings and apartment complexes. He is an attorney and real estate broker. He belongs to the International Council of Shopping Centers, Building Owners and Managers Association and Allegheny County Bar Association.

Edward Kernisky

Senior Vice President and Associate Broker

Ed is a licensed real estate broker who has been in the real estate business, leasing and managing commercial properties since 1978. He joined Union in 1984 and was appointed Vice President in 1994. Prior to that time he was with Kossman Development Company, Interstate Properties, and began his career in the shopping center industry with the Cafaro Company. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Joseph Hodson

Vice President of Commercial Leasing

Joe is a licensed real estate professional who has been in the commercial real estate industry since 1986. He worked at Union Real Estate for six years, and returned in 2000. In the interim, he worked as a real estate leasing representative for American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. and General Nutrition Centers finding new retail sites and negotiating leases with strip center and mall developers throughout the United States. Joe has experience in mall leasing with Crown American Properties and brokerage with The Galbreath Company. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Pamela Taylor

Executive Assistant

Pam started her career at Union in 1993, after graduating from Robert Morris University. Her unprecedented skills make her an irreplaceable counterpart to Union’s executives. Pam is the Assistant to the Chairman, President, Senior Vice President and Vice President of Commercial Leasing. Along with all the commercial lease administration and corporate responsibilities, she also manages marketing and website design for Union’s commercial properties.

Gary Baacke

Director of Operations

Gary joined Union in 2000 as Director of Operations. He draws on his prior experience as a contractor to oversee large- and small-scale construction and capital improvement projects such as canopy renovations, culvert reconstructions and tenant build-outs. Gary also has 17 years of experience running a retail business. Gary is a licensed real estate professional.

David Koltash

Operations Manager

Dave joined the Union Real Estate Management team in 2002. His background is in shopping center management and marketing. Dave has served as a Shopping Center Mall Manager, and as a Regional Manager/Regional Marketing Manager for over 25 years. Dave’s experience was primarily with the Edward J. DeBartolo Corporation. Dave is a Licensed Real Estate professional and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).

Nathan Draper

Commercial Coordinator

Nate joined Union in 2023 as Commercial Coordinator. He graduated from California University of Pennsylvania. He has an extensive background in commercial real estate management. Nate’s 15 years of experience was primarily with H-Squared II Inc, where he started as the maintenance supervisor and advanced to property management and handled a multitude of tasks, including tenant relations, supervision of employees and coordinating construction projects and build-outs. Nate is a licensed real estate professional.

Sande Petrone

Director of Residential, ARM

Sande joined Union in 2013 as a leasing agent where she acquired her Real-Estate license. She was quickly promoted to Property Manager and continued her education to obtain the designation of an Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) certification. She is a member of Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the Apartments Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh. (AAMP). In 2021 Sande has taken on the role of Director and continues to lead the department successfully. Sande also has 30+ years of management and customer service experience.

Bill Russell

Residential Operations Manager

Bill joined Union Real Estate in 2019 as the Residential Operations manager and oversees the maintenance staff. He graduated from Penn State with an Electrical Engineering Degree. Bill has over 30 years prior property management experience in Retail, Commercial and other type of properties.

Mike Messina

Maintenance Technician Supervisor

Mike joined Union Real Estate in 2013 as a maintenance technician after working in general construction. He has experience in retail store buildout and expansion. He has developed an excellent knowledge of residential maintenance and renovation across a wide variety of properties. Mike enjoys working as part of a team to provide solutions to tenant’s needs.

Larry joined Union Real Estate in 2020. He has over 30 years of carpentry experience.

Residential Leasing Agent, ARM

Annamarie joined Union Real Estate in 2019, leveraging her previous experience as a Realtor in the field. As a highly qualified professional, she maintains a valid real estate salesperson license and proudly upholds the esteemed Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) certification, showcasing her profound expertise and unwavering commitment to the industry.

Max Gross

Residential Leasing Agent, ARM

Max joined our team in 2022. He has prior property management experience with Equity Real Estate where he was an assistant property manager. Max graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management.

Jessica Nardulli

Residential Coordinator

Jessica joined the Union Real Estate team in 2018, moving up the ranks from secretary to residential coordinator upon acquiring her real estate license in 2021. While she may not deal with tenants directly, Jessica oversees departmental training and works behind the scenes with both office and field staff to deliver a consistent level of excellence to our tenants.

Michele joined Union in 2003. She worked as an administrator in both residential and commercial divisions of the Company. In 2005, she earned her Real Estate Salesperson license and was promoted to Property Manager of Colony West Apartments. She also has a designation of Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) and continues to thrive in this position while adding Poets Corner Apartments & Townhomes to her management portfolio.

Jennifer Rice

Property Manager

Jennifer joined Union Real Estate in December 2014 as the property manager for the Northway Apartments. Her work history involved being an administrative assistant in both the investment and public accounting fields. Jennifer has worked in the property management field for the past 20 years.

Melissa Cupec

Property Manager

Melissa recently started her career with Union Real Estate in 2024. She graduated with honors in 3 1/2 years from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Psychology. She has over 20 years experience in a variety of property management assets including student housing. She was voted best landlord by the Pitt news several years in a row. Melissa holds a PA. real estate license and loves the interaction with tenants and prospects. When she’s not working, she loves to paint, draw & spend time with her family.

Ann Sanpietro

Leasing Agent

Ann Sanpietro started with Union Real Estate in February of 2007 in the Commercial Department as an operations assistant. She transferred to the Residential Department in February of 2023 as a Leasing Agent. Ann is a people person so she finds working and helping the Residents of Greenbriar Village very fulfilling. She also enjoys music, art and summertime! Ann loves spending time with her husband, family and of course her dog ROCCO!

Kerry Hennessey

Residential Virtual Leasing Assistant

Kerry joined our team in early 2023 as our residential virtual leasing assistant. She is an associate graduate for Computer Information and brings both customer service and technical services with her. As a customer service rep she has the ability to address concerns with efficiency while providing assurance, building rapport and acknowledging issues.

Michelle Kane

Controller

Michelle joined our team in 1999 as an assistant controller. She graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and worked in the public accounting sector for the first five years of her career before joining Union Real Estate. Michelle is a licensed insurance producer.

Marsha SlezakBurt

Senior Accountant

Marsha is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She joined the company in 2023. Prior to joining Union Real Estate, she was controller for CB Richard Ellis / Pittsburgh and an accountant for the public accounting firm of Kline, Keppel and Koryak.

Barbara Taylor

Billing Specialist

Barbara joined the team in 2016 as a Staff Accountant. She has an Associates Degree in Accounting from CCAC and over 30 years of experience in accounting, most recently 13 years at Del Monte Foods as an AP Supervisor prior to Union Real Estate.

Linda Lamberger

Accounts Payable

Linda joined Union Real Estate Company in July of 2015 as our Accounts Payable Associate. She has ten years of previous experience in property management and 35 years experience in accounting.

MaryBeth Freund

Residential Accounts Receivable Associate

MaryBeth joined our team in 2023 as a Residential Accounts Receivable Associate. With 18 years of experience from Glimcher Group Inc, she brings extensive knowledge of real estate accounting work to our company. She has a variety of skills in both residential and commercial fields, mainly accounts payable, accounts receivable, billings and collections.

Nancy Breier

Receptionist

Nancy has worked as the Receptionist of Union Real Estate for 6+ years. She is responsible for answering and transferring calls to Union’s staff. She is happy to assist potential and current tenants and vendors as needed. Nancy’s work history includes switchboard operation, proofreading and other secretarial functions.
